The Valiant Air Command is a volunteer organization that exists for the purpose of finding, restoring, preserving, and displaying the history of the United States Military Aviation service to our Country. One of the ways it accomplishes this mission is by hosting the annual TICO Warbird Airshow.
In order to give our membership the opportunity to fly formation in this and other events, the VAC keeps records of its members who have completed the requirements set down by the Formation And Safety Team (FAST) in compliance with the FAA regulations for flying formation in waivered airspace.
The VAC subscribes and adheres to the FAST program to promote safe formation flying. The VAC will host various formation flying activities to further the FAST Goals.
As a signatory organization to FAST, the VAC issues FAST formation qualification cards to its’ members who meet the FAA, FAST, and VAC requirements.
The VAC also hosts many other formation activities, for members and non-members, forums, clinics, tours, static displays, dinners, and etc. All members and guests are encouraged to participate in all Valiant Air Command sponsored activities.
The Valiant Air Command Operations Officer conducts and supervises all flying activities
The VAC recognizes the fact that FAST, and Formation Flying Protocols, are ever changing. In that light this Mission Statement is an ever changing document.
Safety is the paramount issue, above all others; that point never changes.
ADDENDUM ONE
The purpose of a Mission Statement is to define parameters of operation.
It should define what the entity is not involved in as well as what it is involved in.
Therefore, the Valiant Air Command Board of Directors unanimously approved the following addendum to the Formation Flying Mission Statement of the Valiant Air Command on October 16, 2007:
The Valiant Air Command does NOT train, encourage, condone, acknowledge, recognize, and most especially, approve, of Air Combat Maneuvering in any form or by any other name. It shall not be part of any event approved by the Valiant Air Command. All maneuvers performed shall be within the limits and guide lines approved by the FAST Board of Directors.
